The mission of the Quantum-Enabled Computation Group is to explore, prototype, and demonstrate transformative computational advantage by leveraging quantized and entangled signals. Our work falls into three key thrusts : quantum computing with superconducting qubits, classical computing with single flux quanta in superconducting circuits, and quantum information science and algorithms. We also enable the broader US research enterprise via superconducting device foundries and open-source software development, and support the US Government as strategic Test and Evaluation partners and subject matter experts. Our interdisciplinary Group includes scientific experts in computer science, quantum information, device theory, materials science, fabrication and integration engineering, electrical and microwave engineering, and quantum physics.
Job Description
The group is seeking an experienced superconductor electronics researcher to advance the field of classical superconductor integrated circuit design and architecture, leveraging MIT Lincoln Laboratory's advanced integrated circuit fabrication nodes. This individual will contribute subject matter expertise, design talent, characterization skill, and technical leadership, and will work with design, test, and fabrication engineers to establish future generations of Lincoln Laboratory device technologies and circuit demonstrations.
The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of analog, mixed-signal, and digital circuit design techniques, with tapeout experience in multiple process nodes. Background should include familiarity with and physical understanding of superconductor circuits and / or other beyond-CMOS technologies. A strong knowledge of modern circuit design principles, including for high-speed mixed-signal integrated circuit design and layout, along with a demonstrated ability to plan rigorous experiments and implement rigorous technical analysis. Experience with device fabrication and cryogenic characterization is desired to round out understanding of the full device development cycle. Due to the collaborative nature of our existing team and future work, the successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate with technical staff and technicians within and outside their field of specialty. Members of the Technical Staff are expected to mentor junior researchers, lead small teams of colleagues, and help shape future research directions.
