Particle is a startup based in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are seeking candidates who are self-starters, adaptable, and flexible in a startup environment. As a team of veteran technologists from Twitter, Tesla, Periscope, and more, we are developing a next-generation news platform to reimagine your daily intake of news. We value active engagement in discussions and encourage contribution to the product development process.

We are seeking a staff, senior staff, or principal Web Engineer to help build out a full-featured particle.news web experience, internal tools, and other special projects. The ideal candidate has experience taking ownership of projects and tasks from start to finish, with minimal guidance.

Key Requirements

• Proficient (7+ years) in web development, particularly with Typescript, React Hooks, and GraphQL
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced startup environment, with a focus on rapid prototyping and iteration
• Self-starter who takes ownership and initiative in project areas
• Product-oriented mindset and instincts, understanding the importance of delivering excellent user experiences
• Experience using LLMs like ChatGPT

Nice to Have

• Experience using LLMs in a production environment
• Interest or background in news / journalism
