Job Description

Job Description The Compounding Pharmacy Technician will assist the Pharmacist in accomplishing the technical components of the pharmacy business which will include, but not limited to: measuring, mixing, counting, labeling, recording amounts and dosages of medications. When appropriate or as needed, the Technician may be asked to perform the duties of a Data Entry Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician. Shift and Hours

  • Full Time
  • Monday thru Friday
  • 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • At the discretion of the company and upon company needs
  • Schedules, including the days of week, are subject to change upon shift or customer needs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Answering incoming phone calls
  • Data Entry
  • Receive and store incoming inventory or supplies, verify quantities against invoices, reporting any discrepancies immediately to the pharmacist.
  • Inform Pharmacist or supervisor of stock needs and shortages
  • Accurately fill bottles / bubble cards or Medicine On Time containers with prescribed medications and affix labels
  • Assist Pharmacist with the accurate record keeping of CDS inventory
  • Prepackage and label unit-dose packaging of medications
  • Take verbal authorizations from prescriber's office for refill of non-controlled prescriptions with no changes to strength or directions
  • Reconstitute and compound bulk medications
  • Prepare sterile compounded medications
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately to pharmacy staff of any needs
  • Assists with record maintenance according to state, federal and company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and be flexible
  • Must possess good mathematical skills. Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, this may include using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Must possess good time management skills
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to follow written and oral instruction efficiently and effectively
  • Must be dedicated to providing exceptional customer service
  • Be familiar with brand/generic drug names and general pharmacy terminology
Requirements
  • Must complete annual HIPPA training
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be legally able to work in the United States
  • Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy Technician Permit without disciplinary restrictions
  • Experience with pharmacy computer software
  • Must complete required Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy training according to the standards of the board
  • Must complete any other job-related training that may occur
  • Technician must abide by all state and federal laws regarding the appropriate labeling and dispensing of prescription medications
  • Ability to work agreed upon schedule
  • Must be punctual and dependable for assigned shifts
  • Must be able to type
  • Attend any company meetings as required by Pharmacist or supervisor
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Pick up and pinch small tablets with fingers, seize, hold, grasp or turn objects with hands
  • See objects at close vision and identify and distinguish colors
  • Must be able to look at computer screen for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to bend at the waist, squat
  • Must be able to work with hands, see and hear
  • Must be able to lift at least 25lbs
Conditions of Employment
  • Contingent upon a favorable pre-employment background check & drug screen
  • Contingent upon a favorable driving record check (if driving is required) as per insurance company regulations
  • Maintain a valid driver's license
Work Environment This job frequently involves a fast work pace in a retail pharmacy setting. Must be able to handle multiple tasks (Data Entry, answering incoming phone calls, filing prescriptions etc) daily. Hunter Care Health
