Job Summary:
The Co-Pilot (Second In Command or SIC) is responsible to assist the Pilot In command (PIC) in the operation of the aircraft as requested and in compliance with all federal, state, local, and foreign regulations, as well as the policies and procedures specified in the Flight Operations Manual (FOM). The SIC must be prepared to assume the duties of the PIC in the event the PIC is incapacitated.
Essential Functions and Process Responsibilities, other duties assigned as necessary
- Works within H-E-B fight operations to maintain a culture of safety with efficient procedures that support customer service
- Assists PIC in compliance with schedules and other directives governing the aircraft's operation
- Acts as SIC of flights for which the pilot has been scheduled
- Assists PIC in ensuring that preflight inspections are performed
- Studies weather conditions at destination, en route alternate airports and destination points and discusses with the PIC
- Assists PIC to ensure that a/c is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of passengers
- Uses checklists and assists the PIC in reviewing and calculating the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board and performance charts
- Provides input to PIC decisions necessary to:
Start, delay or cancel flights
Deviate the flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate
Become proficient at all duties necessary to transition to Pilot In Command as prescribed by individual PIC development plan
Note: Individual flight crew members shall be responsible for maintaining current compliance with all regulatory items
Education and Experience Preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent; aircraft specific training as required
- FAA pilot certification, with commercial, instrument and aircraft-specific type ratings as appropriate
- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Valid current FAA Class I Medical Certificate
- 2500 hours total flight time, 1000 turbine and multi-engine
- Proficient in computer based equipment
- Read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Team player
